Singer Selena Gomez has joined the Puma family as part of a long-term partnership set to enhance their women’s business. Not only will she be the face, but she’ll also help by designing product and creating marketing campaigns for which she is rumored to be making more than $30 million. Gomez, who has a combined following on social media in the millions, is the perfect partner for the global sports brand because young women admire her.

As part of her collaboration with the brand, Gomez plans to use the platform by working with and supporting causes close to her heart.

It was announced on September 14 that the young hitmaker had undergone kidney transplant with the organ having been donated by her best friend and fellow actress Francia Raisa. The reason she had to have the serious surgery was due to a damaged kidney caused by the chronic autoimmune disease Lupus.

With the way the world is today, it pays to be extra careful when traveling by airplane. By extra careful, I mean you have to make sure that you are always up-to-date with the latest rules set forth by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as well as your corresponding airlines and destinations. Yes, it can be tough to keep everything in order, but with a little preparation, you will be ready to go to your next destination with no worries.

New TSA Rule Requires New Identifications From Nine States

Travel+Leisure is reporting that residents of nine U.S. states will not be able to travel with their current driver’s license as a form of identification. Residents of Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Washington will need to present an alternate form of identification while traveling. This includes a permanent resident card, a passport or military ID for both domestic and international destinations.

You can thank the REAL ID Act of 2005 that was enacted on May 11, 2005 for the big change. Congress passed this law which modifies U.S. federal law pertaining to security, authentication, and issuance procedures standards for the state driver’s licenses and identity documents, as well as various immigration issues pertaining to terrorism.

The law sets forth requirements for state driver’s licenses and ID cards to be accepted by the federal government for “official purposes”, as defined by the Secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security.

It’s worth noting that the law doesn’t take place until 2018 and there’s still time for the aforementioned states to comply with the new TSA rules.

It’s the story that’s been shaking Hollywood (and, the rest of the entertainment industry) for the last few weeks. From coast to coast women and men have been posting #metoo to social media platforms, indicating that they understand the battle with sexual harassment, that they’ve experienced it also and they know the internal struggle it presents. So what exactly happened with Harvey and what exactly do you need to know to understand the story? Let’s take a closer look at some of the updates from around the web.

 What You Need to Know About the Harvey Weinstein Scandal

A couple of weeks ago, “the New York Times published an explosive exposé detailing almost three decades of alleged sexual harassment by the so-called “King of Hollywood,” producer Harvey Weinstein. Over the course of a months-long investigation, award-winning journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey spoke to several dozen colleagues, former colleagues, associates, assistants and industry peers to paint a picture that is more than mildly disturbing.”

Just one day later, “the board of the Weinstein company announced the film titan would be taking a leave of absence to deal with the allegations— but on the weekend, Weinstein was outright fired. Here, everything you need to know about the sexual harassment scandal shaking Hollywood.” (via Chatelaine)

Now, if you’re not deeply familiar with Harvey, let’s break it down:

• He’s a Hollywood producer and maybe – the most well-known producer in the industry
• He’s launched loads of careers
• He’s made many big box office hits
• Gotten loads of awards…
• After years working for Miramax, he launched his own firm, The Weinstein Company
• He has five children and is married to Georgina Chapman (the fashion designer)

The expose detailed an allegation by Ashley Judd, “who claims that Weinstein invited her to a breakfast meeting at his hotel in the late ’90s, and then called her up to his room where he offered her a massage and asked if she would watch him shower.” The article goes on to detail years of harassment to women who have worked for or with him over the years, indicating that he used power to overstep sexual boundaries with many actresses over an extensive period of time. The worst part of it all…it didn’t go unnoticed and the many layers of the Hollywood entertainment industry (who feared Harvey’s power and positioning) worked to keep it all a secret.

Here’s what Harvey had to say as the news continued to snowball:

“I came of age in the 60’s and 70’s, when all the rules about behaviour and work places were different. I have since learned it’s not an excuse, in the office — or out of it. To anyone. . . . I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it.” (via NYTimes)

What is #MeToo?

The movement began on social media after Alyssa Milano wrote on Twitter: “If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem.”

Within days, millions of women and men used social media outlets to share the harassment they have faced in their own lives by adding the hashtag #MeToo.

It’s unfortunate to hear news like this. Every tragedy brings heartache and loss. My love goes out to those affected by the Sutherland Springs Shooting. Gunman Devin Kelly burst into First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs about 30 miles from San Antonio. According to CNN:

“At least eight members of the same family were among the 26 people killed Sunday when a man armed with a rifle burst into the sanctuary of a church in Texas and started firing.”

Unfortunately, the victims ranged from 5 to 72 years old including the 14-year-old daughter of the church’s pastor was among those killed.

Low self-esteem in common for so many women out there. We’ve all had moments where we don’t exactly feel at our most. I know I don’t! I try to focus on the positive to stay confident and strong about myself. Yet, I waiver. I’m not alone, and neither are you. Even the picture of confidence, Rihanna, has self-doubt from time to time. Trust me; I wouldn’t joke about this. She opened up about her confidence issues when she sat down with Instyle to discuss her new makeup line, Fenty Beauty.

Even Rihanna Has Had Confidence Issues

When asked what pressures she’s had to overcome, Rihanna responded, “I don’t know if it was a confidence thing, but I was very shy at one point. I knew what I was about and what I stood for, but I was not very vocal. In the Barbadian culture, there’s this thing we say: “Speak when you’re spoken to.” It’s polite not to blabber. It took me a couple of years to come out of my shell.” It’s hard to imagine Rihanna keeping her mouth shut. Now, she’s so open-minded. She’s confident and isn’t afraid to be herself. She shows off her own uniqueness and even reminds women how important it is to be themselves.

“I only know how to be me, and people thrive when they’re who they’re meant to be. I can only try my best to encourage girls and women to respect their uniqueness and be 100 percent true to themselves.”

We’re all human! Even Rihanna has moments of self-doubt. Confidence issues are common. It’s okay to feel like you aren’t adequate. YOU are enough, and the best part is, you aren’t alone. We need to stay focused on our goals and on ourselves to overcome these feelings of inadequacy. Women like myself and Rihanna are living our dreams. When you live like this, there’s almost no time for self-doubt. So work hard, be yourself, and maybe you can be as confident as Rihanna.

I’m a HUGE fan of the British Royals, so I am so EXCITED about today’s headlines – ‘Prince Harry Engaged.’

Prince Harry Engaged to American Meghan Markle

Prince Harry confirmed his engagement to gorgeous American fiancee, Meghan Markle, today during a quick appearance at Kensington Palace. Harry told reporters he knew Markle was “the one” from “the very first time we met.” Such a beautiful love story – sending them huge congratulations and wishing them a lifetime of happiness together.

Skywatchers are in for a rare treat this month in the form of a blue blood moon.

The first full moon of 2018 graced our night skies on January 1, with the next supermoon taking place at night on January 30. The second full moon and the lunar eclipse is expected to show at night on January 31, or during the very early morning hours of February 1.

Where to Watch the First Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse in 150 Years

Ever wondered why people use the term ”once in a blue moon”? It’s because, according to NASA, a blue moon happens only once every 2.7 years.

The supermoon will be viewable in New York City and Miami at 5:51 am on January 31, with the distinctive darkening and reddening of the eclipse stealing the limelight at 6:48 am local time.

Today marks the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. as an American federal holiday.

As we all know, King was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination. A federal holiday in this incredible man’s honor was finally awarded fifteen years after his assassination when over six million signatures were collected.

Every year on this day, I take a few minutes to reflect on everything Martin Luther King Jr. stood for. I give a few moments of recognition and appreciation to all of those who keep his spirit alive – those who continue to fight for peace and equality, and to all of us who love unconditionally regardless of race, color or religion.

It saddens me that 50 years after his death, we are still dealing with racism – something that should have no place in any society. Let’s keep fighting for love, peace and equality – today and every day!

“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” Kim announced on her app Tuesday. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.” Their daughter was born Jan. 15 at 12:47 a.m. PT and weighed seven lbs., 6 oz.

I’m so happy for Kimmy. She’s documented her struggles to conceive a third child on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, so I’m especially pleased to hear that she’s had her healthy baby girl. Congrats again to the Kardashian-West clan!

Naomi Parker Fraley, the woman believed the be the inspiration behind the Rosie the Riveter poster died today at 96 in hospice care.

Real Life Rosie the Riveter Dies at 96

“During World War II, Fraley was a factory worker at Alameda Naval Station, according to CNN affiliate KATU. She was one of the millions of women across the United States who filled the labor force during the war. While Fraley was working a press photographer approached her to take her picture.”

She was not recognized as the real Rosie the Riveter until 2015. It was believed the photo was of another woman until Fraley saw her likeness in the picture at a convention for women who worked during the war.

Let us mourn and celebrate the life of this incredible woman. According to her daughter-in-law Marnie Blankenship via CNN, “She didn’t think she did anything special. A lot of women did what she did. She just wanted her picture corrected.”

My heart is broken today after hearing of the mass shooting that took place in Parkland, Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Seventeen lives were taken yesterday by shooter suspect Nikolas Cruz, a former student who is said to be expelled from the school a year prior.

The Latest on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Shooting

How it happened: According to reports, Cruz set off the fire alarm before throwing smoke bombs, and opening fire s students and faculty fled. The gunman left the scene by masquerading as a fleeing student until he was later caught by a police officer.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said today that all families who lost loved ones in the shooting have been notified. He said police will release a full list of the victims later in the day.”Today is a day of healing, today is a day of mourning,”

I can’t help but agree. This vicious act hits close to home as JR, and I reside in our Miami home. All the love in my heart goes out to those affected by this unfortunate tragedy and to the students who will have to live with this traumatic experience forever.

Some would argue that Cosby’s accusers were the true start of the #MeToo movement, making this the first significant conviction since the beginning of the #MeToo age. For decades Cosby used his moral father TV persona to get away with these assaults and finally these women get to see justice served.

Some of Cosby’s accusers left the courtroom in tears. Just watching this, I can see the relief after finally getting a conviction.
